Magnolia Skin / Skin notes
A little understanding goes a long way.
Start with the label. Learn the ingredient. Ask when you are unsure.
The name is only the beginning.
A-Ret is a brand; tretinoin is its active ingredient. Gel and cream describe the formulation. The percentage describes concentration, not a promise of better results. Confirm all three when comparing products.
Tretinoin and tazarotene.
Both are topical retinoids, but they are different medicines. They are not interchangeable on a percentage-for-percentage basis. Your prescriber should advise on suitability and use.
Topical retinoids should not be used during pregnancy or when planning pregnancy. Tazarotene is contraindicated in pregnancy. See the product label.
Azelaic acid.
Azelaic acid is used in certain treatments for acne and rosacea. The specific formulation and market authorisation matter. Read the product leaflet and ask a pharmacist about irritation or suitability.
Hydroquinone requires particular care.
Hydroquinone is prohibited in UK cosmetic skin-lightening products. In some markets it is available in prescription treatments. Do not treat it as an ordinary cosmetic or use an unidentified product. Read FDA information and UK product safety guidance.
Keep the essentials in view.
Follow product-specific instructions, discuss other active treatments with your clinician, and ask about suitable sun protection. These notes explain ingredients; they do not replace personal medical advice.
